'Professor Winston has created a brilliant science book that goes beyond just experiments to help children learn and apply many basic scientific principles.
There are clear, concise directions and photographs for the experiments. The reading level makes it possible for children to be able to read the material themselves. To increase interest, history and practical application bits are also included with the activities. This book would be appropriate for kids of all ages and for every purpose. It aims and succeeds at making science fun. My 17 year old was just as excited about doing the experiments as my 10 year old twins were!'

'This book is very exciting and I found it easy and enjoyable to read. The pictures and illustrations really make me want to get going and try out these experiments. As a previous review has mentioned this book claims that you can find everything you need in your house however there are a few items that you might not... perhaps you could try these at school where they might have more materials available? The glossary is really good because it helped me to understand some of the scientific words I hadn''t heard before. I also liked the symbols that told you if the experiment was difficult, how long it will take and if you should have an adult present! I have already made the cardboard camera (on page 90) and found the instructions and pictures easy to use. This is the best book I have seen on this topic. '

'Excellent well presented experiment book with easy to follow instructions. Ideal for a range of ages with anything from giant bubbles to making a metal detector. Most of the items used are available in the average home making this an ideal book, particularly for the holidays, or any other time the children claim to be bored with nothing to do.'

'My 10 year old son has Asperger''s syndrome and he needs clear, concise instructions for everything in life. The very clear, step by step instructions and the illustrations in this book are therefore ideal for him.
I have just one reservation. Before getting the book I was under the misapprehension that the experiments used common household items. Although a great deal of them do, there are a lot that require items such as UV light, iodine, soft metal tubing, phenolphthalein, hydrogen peroxide, even dry ice pellets. This could therefore work out quite costly although it does make for serious experimentation and there are some really exciting experiments my son is looking forward to.

'This book is full of exciting science experiments for kids and includes a huge range of topics from materials and forces to electricity and nature. Each experiment is clear and easy to follow and includes a list of materials, estimated time to complete and any necessary safety guidelines. The step-by-step instructions are illustrated and most of the activities include a ''How does This Work?'' box or a link to real-life in a ''Science Around Us'' box. I am looking forward to using some of these activities and experiments with the children in the Engineers Club at my school. It promises to be both exciting and thought-provoking!'

'This book is amazing! The experiments look very exciting and I can''t wait to get started on all of them. As I''m in Year 7 now a lot of the experiments relate to what I am doing in my science class. The pictures and explanations actually help me to understand my science better. I am also really glad that there is a glossary at the back that I can refer to in case I don''t understand something.
I''ll never be bored again!'
