'I absolutely loved this book, he writes with such passion about the things he''s interested in, (which doesn''t hurt in making him very attractive). I''ve always been interested in nature, but not in a very serious way so many of the books out there are just too advanced for the passing interest. This book has lots of wonderful pictures as well and is suitable for all ages.'

'A fantastic book suitable for all Nature lovers!! When I first heard about this book and noticed it was written by Chris Packham, I had extremely high expections since there''s not much he doesn''t know about the Natural World - I have to admit I certainly wasn''t disappointed - it was a fantastic read! Beautifully illustrated throughout and split into useful sections, it would appeal to all age groups and also ability. It starts with the basics and also goes in-depth but in such a way that it keeps you captivated and holds your interest throughout. You can start by discovering wildlife close to home and then as you progress through the chapters, you can travel futher afield in your quest. It is packed full of useful tips and information and it will be used as a reference for me in several years to come - Well done Chris!!'

'I loved this book. It''s full of bite-sized bits of information and lots of pictures - perfect for children and adults alike. I think the book would have been better if was only British wildlife as the addition of American and European wildlife only detracted from the excellent quality we have come to expect from Dorling Kindersley. I particularly liked the inclusion of skeletons in this book - a feature I have not seen before. I would have no hesitation in recommending this book to anyone with a passion for wildlife and particularly to parents who wish to encourage an interest in wildlife in their children.'

'Lovely insirational book. Covers much from the basics of going out into nature, weather and finding nature at home to some of the most exotic locations. The subject is broad and presented in a very attractive way with many beautiful pictures. This is not a guide book to plants and animals in a particular country, so lacks depth. Examples are from all over the world and the book contains a curious mix of British and American common names. It does though identify many plants and animals common in USA and Europe. Overall a great book to get you interested in discovering the natural world and for inspiring the more knowledgable to get out and about and find something new.'
