'This is a fascinating visual guide book for anyone from a dedicated foodie to someone who just occasionally samples the small pieces of freebie cheese at the deli counter of their local supermarket. It contains information about cheeses from all over the world including to my surprise Japan.
There''s a great deal of information on each cheese including: a general description and where its made, tasting notes and suggested wines to enjoy with the cheese - most, though not all, are illustrated by a picture of the actual cheese.
This book is incredibly detailed and as well as being a useful reference book, it has several features which I loved including the maps of various countries showing which cheese comes from which region of that particular country and the two page spread on cheeses such as Mozzarella and Manchego amongst others.
I found "The Perfect Cheeseboard" guidance amusing if only for the information that it should be enjoyed "after the main meal but before dessert."
It''s very difficult to do this book justice in a short review. There''s so much to discover about the world of cheese beyond the pre-packed chunks we see in the local supermarket - which is why the list of suppliers at the back of the book is so important. This book would make an ideal gift for someone who''s difficult to buy for and I''ve already got a list of suitable candidates who will be receiving a copy.'

'I think I have died and gone to cheese heaven! This book in true DK style is stunningly illustrated; a work of art. A very comprehensive guide to all different types of cheese from all over the world. Excellent. '
